Terrell History Museum
The museum is housed in the former Terrell Carnegie Library building, a 1904 neoclassical institution designed by Waco architecture firm Messer and Smith. The building is both a Texas Registered Historic Landmark and a National Ancient Monument and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is also home to the Fine Arts Association of Northeast Texas, which features paintings by local artists along with the museum collections of regional Texas artist Frank Reaugh. Reaugh and his parents settled near Terrell in 1876. After studying in Europe, Reaugh returned to Texas and settled in Dallas. He often drew inspiration from his early years around Terrell to represent its iconic Texas landscapes. Don’t forget to check out this place in Terrell too.
The museum is open from 10:00 am. until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays by appointment, on Fridays. Appointments must be made at least one day in advance.
